F.A.Q. Gran Canaria Astronomy Tour

Is hotel pickup included? From which areas?

Yes, hotel pickup is included only for the guided tour with transfers. Pickup is available in South Gran Canaria, typically between Puerto Mogán and Maspalomas (we’ll confirm your exact pickup point after booking).

Can I join with my own car (self-drive)? Where do we meet?

Yes, you can book the self-drive stargazing tour in Gran Canaria and meet the group at Mirador Astronómico de la Degollada de las Yeguas, about 10 km from Maspalomas.

On the day of the tour, you’ll receive clear meeting time/location details via WhatsApp.

What will we see through the telescopes?

You’ll observe the night sky with telescopes and a guided explanation of constellations and the most visible highlights that night.

What’s visible depends on sky conditions and the moon phase—on darker nights you’ll typically get better views of deep-sky objects.

What if the weather is bad?

The team checks forecasts carefully and monitors cloud cover before confirming the tour. If conditions change unexpectedly, they may switch viewpoint / move to an alternative location or, in rare cases, cancel for safety/visibility reasons.

Does the moon affect visibility?

Yes. The Moon can be amazing to observe, but when it’s bright (especially 2–3 days before full moon) the sky is less dark and some deep-sky viewing is reduced. If you want the darkest skies, choose a date using a moon calendar.

Is it cold in the mountains?

It can get very cold after sunset—temperatures in the mountains may drop to near-freezing, depending on season and weather. A limited number of warm coats are available to borrow, but we still recommend dressing in layers with closed shoes.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel up to 24 hours before the scheduled tour, you receive a full refund. If you don’t show up and don’t notify the team, the booking is non-refundable. If the operator cancels before the tour, you can reschedule or receive a full refund; if the tour is stopped after it starts due to worsening conditions, you can reschedule within 1 year or get a 50% refund.

Is this a good tour for beginners?

Yes, this is a guided experience designed to be easy and enjoyable even if you’ve never used a telescope.

Will we definitely see stars?

Visibility depends on weather and cloud cover. If conditions change, the guide adjusts the plan to maximize your chances.

How should I dress?

Bring warm clothes, mountain nights can be chilly even when the coast is mild.

Is this a good tour for beginners?
